It's Over...

We took down our Christmas tree's yesterday. (we did decide to leave the outdoor lights up until after New Year's Day)

A friend has poisoned my mind by saying it is bad luck to keep your Christmas tree until the New Year, and now I will always think that!

Has anyone else ever heard about this bit of superstition?

I've never heard that one. I know some people leave it up till the Epiphany (January 6). I've done that before but our tree is so dead that I can't wait to take it down tomorrow or the next day.

I haven't heard of that either. I usually leave mine up until at least the Epiphany. One year, a long time ago, we converted our tree to a Valentine's Day tree by taking down the xmas decorations and putting up paper hearts of pink, red and white. That was the best tree ever! I swear it could have been a St. Patrick's day tree. It still looked good and it didn't dry out. (Please remember to send the Pope that story after I die as proof that he needs to canonize me.)

Chris, try and understand... I would rather not get involved, pro or con, for your canonization. The less the Pope knows about me, the better! (I would have been swayed, mind you, if you did actually still have it as a St. Paddy's tree and on until Easter)

That must have been one hearty tree to last that long! Ours is suffering a serious case of rigor mortis right now. I hate to do it, but it's coming down today.
