New Mexico-bred phenomenon Peppers Pride drew
one race closer to equaling the North American record for consecutive wins when she easily captured the $100,000 Sydney Valentini Handicap on Sunday at Sunland Park.
Racing exclusively in New Mexico against state-breds, Peppers Pride notched her 15th straight win and 11th stakes triumph in the one-mile race, which she also annexed last year, to remain undefeated.
With one additional win, Peppers Pride would tie the record for the longest modern victory skein, held jointly by Citation, Cigar, Mister Frisky, and Hallowed Dreams, a Louisiana-bred filly who began her career with 16 straight wins.
