Just a reminder that this blog will be holding it's annual Breeder's Cup Contest for 2009. Stonestreet Stables’ Jess Jackson, co-owner of superstar filly Rachel Alexandra, responding in Daily Racing Form to the move by Breeders’ Cup Ltd. to increase the winner’s share of the $5-million Breeder’s Cup Classic (G1) by $1-million—from $2.7-million to $3.7-million—if both Rachel Alexandra and undefeated champion older female Zenyatta start in the race. The 2008 Breeder's Cup Contest

Welcome to the 2008 Breeder's Cup Contest. The rules are simple; pick three horses per race, in no particular order. You will receive 5 points for a win, 3 points for second, and 1 point for third. The winner will be the person who gets the most points at the end of all 14 races.
We are playing for the stunning two glasses pictured to the left. In the event of a tie, the winners will get one glass each. In the event of multiple winners, I will be forced to break the glasses and divvy up the pieces. (kidding of course.) This contest is free to play and open to everyone. Get your family and friends in on the action for a competitive contest this year. The more the merrier!

Breeder's Cup Contest Coming Soon!
Breeder's Cup will be running this Friday and Saturday at Santa Anita. I will post the contest as soon as final entries come out. As in the past, the contest is free to play and open to all. Stay tuned for more info.

This year the Breeder's Cup will be run at Santa Anita on October, 25th. For those of you having trouble keeping up with the horses who will most likely be running in the Breeder's Cup, Bodog has a Breeder's Cup Watch section that highlights the top five horses in the Classic, Turf, Mile, and Sprint. They also have weekly news updates and opinions, and a "races to watch" section that tells when the key prep races are and where they are being televised. Breeders’ Cup moves all female races to Friday

Breeders’ Cup Ltd. continues to tinker with its Breeders’ Cup World Championships program by moving all of the races restricted to females to Friday’s card with a series of festivities designed to promote a “Championship Friday” format.
The $2-million Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic (G1), formerly the Distaff, will headline the five female championship races on the first day of the Breeders’ Cup’s two-day program on October 24 at Santa Anita Park.
The other races on the card will include the $2-million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1), the $1-million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, the $2-million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), and the inaugural $1-million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Purses for Friday’s Breeders' Cup races now total $8-million, more than doubling the purses from last year’s first-ever Friday card at Monmouth Park.
In addition to the championship races, the Friday festival also will include cause-related programs focused on women’s health, on-site initiatives for fans, promotions around Los Angeles and around the country, simulcast events at various outlets, and special merchandise designed specifically around a “Championship Friday” theme.

Breeder's Cup Contest
This is the 24th Breeders' Cup World Championships, but it is the first time it will be held at Monmouth, and it will be expanding to 11 races over two days. Monmouth traditionally races in the summer, but will have racing on Wednesday and Thursday before the BC cards Friday and Saturday.
Friday will feature the three new Breeders' Cup races - the Filly and Mare Sprint, Dirt Mile, and Juvenile Turf. On Saturday, the Elite Eight will be run - the Juvenile Fillies, Juvenile, Filly and Mare Turf, Sprint, Mile, Distaff, Turf, and Classic.
Entries were to be taken and posts drawn on Tuesday for all 11 races. I will list the official entries whan they come out. From that list everyone will pick one horse per race, with points given out for win, place, and show. (five points for win, 3 points for second, 1 point for third) Sound good? or does anyone have a better plan?
