An Exciting Weekend Of Horse Racing

This weekend signalled the return of the major players in this years Triple Crown races. Derby winner, Mine That Bird, finished third in the West Virginia Derby. Jockey Mike Smith blamed himself for the defeat saying that he moved too early.

Rachael Alexandra once again dazzled her fans with an impressive 6 length win in the Haskell Invitational beating the boys. Also in that race was Belmont Stakes winner, Summer Bird, who finished second, and Triple Crown contender, Papa Clem, who finished fourth.

To cap it all off, the Florida Derby winner, Quality Road, made his return to racing with a record setting time in the 6.5 furlong Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga. You may remember that he was the early favorite before the Derby who was sidelined with a quarter crack. This fall's racing is really starting to heat up!

Have they announced anything about who is participating in the Travers?

Hopefully they all will (Mine That Bird, Summer Bird, Rachael Alexandra, and Quality Road) I think the boys are definitely heading that way... Rachael has three options they are looking at; The Travers, The Woodward, and the Personal Ensign.
