Quote Of The Day

“In hindsight, anything different wouldn’t have mattered, I don’t think. In my mind, I did what I was supposed to do. The start predicated my ride. I extricated myself as fast as I could. I was in a cozy spot by the time we went a quarter of a mile, and I had no horse. That’s it. People can say all they want about other things. If I’d gotten beat a length, or five, you could point the finger all you want, and I would take every ounce of blame.”

Jockey Kent Desormeaux, in the Louisville Courier-Journal, on his much-scrutinized ride aboard Big Brown in the Belmont Stakes (G1)

The trainer jinxed the horse by running his mouth. Its like the Sports Illustrated cover. Once your on it, you lose! He can only blame himself, the horse or the rider, and a guy like Dutrow would never take the blame. So lets blame the jockey.

My Dad and Chris C. blame the jockey... I don't see it. I think he did all he could do. I think it was a little "face-saving" to pull the horse up, though.
