Quote Of The Day

"He's coming into his own. He's no longer in the role of rabbit, and he's a high-level horse in and of himself. We always knew he was a good horse."

Hanzly Albina, racing manager for Four Roses Thoroughbreds, on Mr. Umphrey winning the Longfellow Stakes at Monmouth Park. Mr. Umphrey used to be run as a rabbit for stablemates Diamond Stripes and Silver Wagon.

Mr. Umphrey Takes Longfellow Stakes (If you love me you will click the link and read the story about my little Jules colt. You may also notice that there is no mention of us buying him as a weanling and selling him as a yearling, but hey, who needs all that fame?)

I think Nick Fortuna should have done his due diligence as a reporter and not overlooked Mr. Umphrey's stay at Perfect Circle Farm!!

Is Mr. Umphrey and Jules the same horse?

Melanie: I agree. I think a quote by Newi would have been a nice addition to the story.

Callum Daly: No, Mr. Umphrey was sired by Jules, but during his stay as a weanling with Nora (author of this blog) he was always referred to as "Jules" for short.

Yeah, John... he was the "Jules" of "Jules and Junie." I forgot you were here when I had them. Great to hear from you. How have you been?

Unfortunately, Nick Fortuna wouldn't know about Mr. Umphreys stay at Perfect Circle Farm. He was bought under Ann's name as a weanling and was sold by Kelli Mitchell as agent when we sold him as a yearling. He could only find out all of that if he called Kelli for a quote when he wrote his article.
