First Winner For Freshman Sire Mr. Livingston



D. C.’s Legacy dueled for command to deep stretch and was fully
extended to prevail by a half-length in the first race at Calder Race Course on Saturday to become the first winner for Florida-based
freshman sire Mr. Livingston. Trained by Bill Kaplan for Teresa and David Palmer and Merritt Racing, the gray or roan colt out of the winning Way West (Fr) mare Miss Godiva completed the five-furlong maiden special weight race under Juan Leyva in 1:01.00 on a track rated as fast. Mr. Livingston is an 11-year-old by El Prado (Ire) out of the winning
Noble Saint mare Vienna Knickers. He stands for $3,500 at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala and has 31 two-year-olds in his first crop. Mr. Livingston won seven stakes among ten victories in 40 career starts, including the 2000 Palm Beach Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park, for Kaplan and the Palmers. He closed his racing career at age seven in 2004 with $429,285 in career earnings.
