Sad News

Grade 3 winner Hesanoldsalt was euthanized on Wednesday after fracturing his shoulder and forearm at Palm Meadows Training Center, Daily Racing Form reported. Trainer Nick Zito told the Form that Hesanoldsalt was hurt in a collision with a tree. After rearing and breaking away from a groom, the Broad Brush horse headed toward trainer Michael Matz’s barn. Hesanoldsalt ran into the tree while trying to duck away from someone trying to catch him.
A homebred of Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Plantation, Hesanoldsalt is full brother to Grade 1 winner and sire Mongoose out of the winning Cox’s Ridge mare Salty Gal. Hesanoldsalt earned four wins in 22 starts, including a victory in the 2006 Fred W. Hooper Handicap (G3), and earned $514,938.
