We Are Marshall

We watched this movie last night. It is about a plane crash in 1970 that killed 75 people from the Marshall University football team, athletic staff, family, and fans. The movie starts with the plane crash and tells the tale of the struggle to get a football program back in place. This was a good movie that focused not on winning, but playing the game. The actual events happened in the town where Conard grew up, Huntington, West Virginia. Conard's older brother Larry worked for the fire department, and was called out to the fiery wreckage from the plane crash to help locate bodies.

Same here! I definitely want to see this movie. I had no idea that happened in Conard's old hometown. Very interesting stuff.

it was a good movie.. not great. I think there were some parts that were a bit unrealistic. For instance, I don't think the kids were that fervent on their own to start a new team, but whatever. It was interesting to see the portrayal of the town's people, families, and friends.

Being a sports junkie, I've heard a lot about We Are Marshall. It was the news leader on WFAN last week and all the sports reporters are rushing to get the DVD.
