Quote of the Day

“Today’s historic return of the MassCap marks a new chapter
for Thoroughbred racing at Suffolk Downs. The MassCap signals
our intention to continue bringing both existing and new
fans to enjoy a world-class entertainment experience in Thoroughbred
racing.”
Suffolk Downs owner Richard Fields on Saturday after Brass
Hat won the $500,000 Massachusetts Handicap, which had not
been run since 2004 due to economic reasons. Before canceling the
track’s signature race last year, track officials revealed plans to
move the race from its traditional mid-summer date to late September,
where it would be positioned as a prep race for the Breeders’
Cup World Championships

That's awesome. Glad the new owner's are doing the right thing.

Are you keeping up with the gambling proposal in Mass.? Gov. Deval Patrick is recommending casinos in the state, but NOT slots at the dog & horse tracks. What?!? I don't get it.

He's an asshole! Actually, I thought, (and I'm probably wrong), that he wasn't one way or the other for the tracks and was just leaning toward passing the gambling. (does that make any sense?)
