Merv Griffin, a huge supporter of thoroughbred racing, died on Sunday from prostate cancer. He is best known for creating the game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He had a long time dream of winning the Kentucky Derby that almost came true in 2006 with Stevie Wonderboy. Unfortunately, Stevie Wonderboy was injured before the Derby and did not start in it. He has now been retired to stud duty at Airdre Stud.
My hats off to you, Merv, I hope you will look down at the Derby winners sired by your stallion one day.
